The locals drink water from five gallon containers and so we do too!  These containers can be purchased practically everywhere and we can deliver them too.  A 50 peso deposit ($US 1) is charged on the container.  Typically one container will last two people for a week.  There is no need to use this water for washing, cleaning teeth or washing up since our main supply is pretty clean.  And of course any water used in cooking is boiled so there is no problem there either.

Tip! - fill a small jug with water and place in the refrigerator then you will have a more convenient way to get a cool glass of water when you need it.
